Art dealer and curator Jean-David Malat will open his eponymous gallery on 11 June with Metanoia, an exhibition of new work by London-based Norwegian artist Henrik Uldalen
After over a decade on the London scene, celebrity art dealer and all-round powerhouse Jean-David Malat is venturing out on his own. The new London space, named JD Mallat Gallery, will showcase both emerging and established artists.
Located on Davies Street in the city’s prestigious Mayfair area, the JD Malat Gallery will open on 11 June 2018 with an exhibition of new work by Henrik Uldalen. The exhibition, titled Metanoia (defined as a transformative change of heart or spiritual conversion), will feature 17 new paintings by the London-based Norwegian artist. In addition to exhibitions, the gallery will host a schedule of talks, conferences and student visits to support and foster the local art community.
Here, we enjoy a preview of the artist’s oil paintings, characterised by the juxtaposition of hyperrealistic portraiture semi-obscured by thick layers of impasto.
