    The exhibition is from the circle of “geographic” exhibitions – world art from the collection of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art” where there are about 18000 world art pieces in the museum. This collection of Japanese art at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art consists of about 200 museum pieces dated to XVIII-XX centuries. Among the works of Japanese collection are decorative- applied artsartistic pottery which attract particular attention.

    The highly anticipated show, All is to Be Dared, is Kalliopi Lemos’ second solo exhibition with the gallery. Featuring the artist's latest body of work, the show aims to open up a contemporary discourse about the role of femininity - both historically and in the current climate - presenting us with an intimate balance of sensuality and pain, desire and constraint, love and death, rendered universal and timeless through the inspiration of the ancient Greek poetess Sappho and her capacity to capture the human psyche in all its facets, in all its complexities.

    Across the top floor of the exhibition space, the artist has produced an entirely new body of work that builds on her exploration of material as a tool for experimentation. The total installation of sculptures, resembling crumbling pillars, and monumental wall works create a feeling of a transient place, half ruined and half built, and one is reminded that entropy is an essential step of creation. For Mahmudova the process is everything and her textured works act as tokens of memory, each layer exposing a particular moment on the artist’s personal time-space continuum.

    Central to the exhibition is Pistoletto’s 2003 text ‘Terzo Paradiso’ (‘Third Paradise’), a manifesto for a harmonious future where nature and society coexist. ‘Third Paradise’ states the social responsibility to seek a more sustainable world, ‘leading everything that is artificial; that is science and technology together with art; to give back life to Earth’.

  • 12 April 2018 - 10 May 2018Azerbaijan Cultural Center, Vienna

    The exhibition, bringing together Azerbaijani and Austrian art students, has been organized by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Vienna and the Vienna University of Applied Arts. Art students from Azerbaijan and Austria worked on this project for seven months and will present their works performed in different techniques.

The set promises some of the band’s most famous feel good tracks as well as highlights from their recent album.

    Overlooking the Caspian Sea, the 2018 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix is run along the Baku City Circuit giving fans a view of modern architecture as well as historic buildings around the industrial city of Baku. The Azerbaijani capital delivers a thrilling experience as it joins locations such as Monte Carlo in offering a street circuit - that is, not a permanent race track, but one that takes drivers and audiences through the winding streets of Baku, from the iconic Flame Towers all the way to its beautiful Old City. Although the track is extremely narrow in some places, it also has one of the longest straights on the F1 calendar, so it’s sure to be a heart-stopping race.

    This years Modern Music Festival is dedicated to the 100th jubilee of Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev. Garayev wrote nearly 110 musical pieces including ballet, operas, symphonic and chamber pieces, solos for piano and marches.

    The British Council Azerbaijan in partnership with the British Embassy in Azerbaijan and Nizami Cinema Centre will host the fourth British Film Spring, bringing the best and brightest new UK films to an Azerbaijan audience. The festival will be held as part of a series of events to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the British Council in Azerbaijan. This year, eight remarkable and very diverse films including Breathe, Daphne, Notes of Blindness, David Browie is, City of Tiny Lights, England is Mine, The Carer, and Crooked House will be screened at the festival.

    The Heydar Aliyev Center is to welcome recognized opera singers Yana Melikayeva and Askar Abdrazakov. The concert will offer a unique opportunity for classical music lovers to enjoy fascinating voices and magnificent performance. The soloists will perform pieces from various operas along with famous romantic songs. Some pieces are to be presented in duet accompanied by the U.Hajibeyli Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra with Fuad Ibrahimov as a conductor.

    For the first time, Baku will host the BMX World Championship. UCI BMX World Championships are the world championships for BMX racing (bicycle motorcross) held under the regulations of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the sport's international governing body. The UCI BMX World Championships are held annually and the winner of each event is crowned the BMX Cycling World Champion.

Dozens of farmers and gardeners will bring their best apples to compete in various competitions, such as the biggest apple or the most delicious apple jam.
