  • 06 October 2017 - 05 April 2018Heydar Aliyev Center, Baku

    This exhibition, presented by the Alexander Vasilyev Foundation, is set to feature garments and gems of the 1960s. Held for the first time in Baku, it is supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. It will include 100 items of clothing and 350 accessory sets from the Alexander Vasilyev Foundation’s collection. Rare pieces by the world’s leading fashion designers, such as Chanel, Dior, Balmain, Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga will go on display.

    Bringing together works by four major international artists - Franz Ackermann, El Anatsui, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Richard Wilson - 'Domestic Alien' seeks to explore a wide range of contemporary issues. Brought together by a common theme of displacement, the works in this exhibition place the artists in dialogue with each other as their oeuvres explore various ideas of social and cultural values, domesticity as well as globalisation.

    A highly anticipated group show featuring Central Asia’s leading contemporary artists, including Aida Mahmudova, Yelena and Viktor Vorobyev and Fyodor Pavlov-Andreevich. This is the first show to exhibit works from the region since the gallery’s inception in 2003, Gazelli Art House examines national identity, tradition and history with this exceptional oeuvre. Located between East and West, the works combine tradition and folklore with an array of genres and techniques, adding to a unique contemporary art discourse.

These are products featured in a special campaign,  from leading global brands from more than 400 stores all over Baku. During the festival, not only are buyers able to buy specially discounted products but also enjoy profitable shopping with ‘Tax Free’ system applied to certain goods and shops. The event is open to all Azerbaijan citizens as well as all visitors.

    The course of Baku Marathon 2018 will over the distance of 21km from Flag Square to Baku's Olympic Stadium. A total of 15,000 people will run, including politicians, athletes, celebrities and other opinion leaders.

    Overlooking the Caspian Sea, the 2018 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix is run along the Baku City Circuit giving fans a view of modern architecture as well as historic buildings around the industrial city of Baku. The Azerbaijani capital delivers a thrilling experience as it joins locations such as Monte Carlo in offering a street circuit - that is, not a permanent race track, but one that takes drivers and audiences through the winding streets of Baku, from the iconic Flame Towers all the way to its beautiful Old City. Although the track is extremely narrow in some places, it also has one of the longest straights on the F1 calendar, so it’s sure to be a heart-stopping race.

    This years Modern Music Festival is dedicated to the 100th jubilee of Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev. Garayev wrote nearly 110 musical pieces including ballet, operas, symphonic and chamber pieces, solos for piano and marches.

    The Tour D'Azerbaidjan is a 2.1 multi-stage bicycle race of the UCI Europe Tour. Each day, participants start on a new phase of the race. The race is held in 7 regions of Azerbaijan and finishes in the capital, Baku.

    Festival of Minority Nations will be held in several regions and cities of Azerbaijan. Different musical collectives from Astara, Masalli, Qakh, Shaki will participate in the festival.

    For the first time, Baku will host the BMX World Championship. UCI BMX World Championships are the world championships for BMX racing (bicycle motorcross) held under the regulations of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the sport's international governing body. The UCI BMX World Championships are held annually and the winner of each event is crowned the BMX Cycling World Champion.

    Now in its third year, the International Dolma Festival is one of the most delicious events in Azerbaijan. The festival will feature several stands with different kinds of dolma, such as aubergines, tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers as well as made of cabbage leaves, apple and quince and more. Azerbaijan will present more than 300 kinds of dolma from forty regions of the country. The best cooking will be awarded with special awards and the guests will enjoy a concert program with the participation of folklore groups.

    This year, Apple Festival will be held in Azerbaijan's northern region of Guba. Apple is a symbol of Guba, where almost everything is devoted to this juicy fruit. The people of Guba claim that there are more than 40 different varieties of apples there. The annual festival attracts visitors from across the country, while foreign travelers also try to catch up this colorful and ‘tasty’ event. Dozens of farmers and gardeners will bring their best apples to compete in various competitions, such as the biggest apple or the most delicious apple jam.
